Event Highlight | Boundless Dreams: A Sharing Session on Sign Language Education, Social Entrepreneurship, and Pursuing Dreams (11 March 2025)

Over 40 participants gathered for Boundless Dreams: A Sharing Session on Sign Language Education, Social Entrepreneurship, and Pursuing Dreams, an inspiring event exploring how dreams fuel social innovation and inclusion. The session featured a dynamic sharing and dialogue with three remarkable speakers: Prof Gladys Tang from Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, Ms Fiona Wat, producer of The Way We Talk, and Ms Gloria Shum, Sign Bilingual Instructor at SLCO Community Resources (SLCO). Together, they offered powerful insights into driving social change through passion and perseverance.

The event kicked off with insightful stories from the speakers. Prof Tang recounted her journey of founding SLCO to advance sign bilingual education, Fiona shared her decade-long effort to produce The Way We Talk as a medium for promoting social inclusion, and Gloria reflected on how her Bimodal Bilingual Studies at CUHK inspired her career as a Sign Bilingual Instructor.

Following the enlightening sharing, Mr Raymond Wong, General Manager of SLCO, participated in a fireside chat with the three speakers. As the dialogue unfolds, participants engage in a contemplative dialogue, exploring the learnings and challenges while chasing dreams on the road to social innovation and inclusion. The speakers offered invaluable lessons and profound wisdom to aspiring entrepreneurs and dreamers alike.

The speakers’ insights ignited a spark in the participants, motivating them to pursue their own dreams, ultimately inspiring them to contribute to a brighter, more inclusive society through their unique talents and passions.
