Event Highlight | CUHK Invited to ZGC Forum: Deepening Beijing–Hong Kong Technology Transfer and Launching a New Era of Innovation Integration (29 March 2026)

On 29 March, a key event of the ZGC Forum series — the “Patient Capital for Industrial Development and Achievement Transformation Ecosystem Summit” — was held at Zhongguancun, Beijing. Hosted by Beijing State-owned Capital Operation and Management Co., Ltd., the Summit brought together government leaders, academicians, and industry representatives to explore the deep integration of scientific innovation and industrial development.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was honoured to be the sole Hong Kong university invited to this prestigious event. CUHK was represented by Mr. Kelvin Wong, Deputy Director of the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO), who participated in the official launch ceremony. The University’s participation underscored its excellence in technology transfer and its pivotal role in facilitating collaborative innovation between Beijing and Hong Kong.

As a vital component of the 2026 ZGC Forum Annual Meeting, the Summit focused on how “patient capital” can drive the commercialization of scientific achievements and support industrial development. Key initiatives were unveiled during the event, including the launch of the “Transfer in Beijing” comprehensive service platform, its mobile application, and a documentary series. By linking a 100‑billion‑level patient capital system, these initiatives aim to create a one‑stop service matrix to help scientific breakthroughs progress from “0 to 1”, effectively bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial application. In addition, the newly established Innovation and Entrepreneurship Integration Alliance will further streamline the entire technology transfer chain.

The Summit also featured keynote addresses by renowned academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), together with industry leaders. Presentations covered frontier areas such as topological quantum computing, ultra‑wide bandgap semiconductors, healthcare innovation, and Large Language Model (LLM) applications. Discussions highlighted how long‑term capital can nurture “New Quality Productive Forces” and contribute to building a seamless technology‑industry ecosystem.

CUHK’s exclusive invitation to the Summit reflects its research capabilities and proven experience in transforming innovative ideas into impact. The University will continue to leverage its academic strengths and international influence to connect Beijing–Hong Kong resources, accelerate the commercialisation of research, promote cross‑regional integration, and contribute to the nation’s technological advancement.
