Event Highlight | GUIN Inauguration Ceremony cum Grand Kick-off of Hong Kong Techathon+ 10th Anniversary

On July 11, 2025, the HKSTP hosted the GUIN Inauguration Ceremony cum Grand Kick-off of Hong Kong Techathon+ 10th Anniversary. Co-organized with 15 local tertiary institutions, including CUHK, the event was officiated by Prof. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, HKSAR as the Guest of Honour. Hon. Duncan Chiu, Legislative Council Member – Technology & Innovation Constituency and Prof. Mai-har Sham, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) of CUHK also joined as the on-stage guest to launched the Global University Innovation Network (GUIN) and celebrated a decade of Techathon+ fostering innovation.

GUIN, a collaboration with global universities, promotes entrepreneurial education and research commercialization, enhancing Hong Kong’s global I&T presence. Techathon+ 2025 engaged over 1,800 innovators across 380+ teams, pitching solutions in AI, sustainability, digital economy, and smart cities. CUHK startups showcased innovations, aligning with Hong Kong’s STEM priorities. The event highlighted HKSTP’s role in nurturing talent and kick-starting one of the flagship innovation events in Hong Kong.
