Mr. Dillan SUM, Solicitor

Dillan Sum is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong, and as non-practising solicitor in England and Wales. In 2021, he passed the qualifying examination to practise PRC law in the Greater Bay Area and obtained a practising licence in 2022.

Dillan has practised law for over 25 years (including spending 4 years in Shanghai serving a Fortune 500 company) with more than 15 years senior inhouse legal experiences in various industries and sectors including:

  • Manufacturing/building technology (Johnson Controls Inc. – Vice President and General Counsel for Asia)
  • media and entertainment (Technicolor SA (formerly as Thomson SA) – General Counsel Asia)
  • port, shipping and logistics (Hutchison Port Holdings Limited – Senior Counsel)

His areas of specialisation are corporate and commercial law matters including M&A; cross-border transactions; technology startups (including fund-raising) and IP protection; trade dispute resolution; compliance; etc.

In the past years, Dillan has been advising startup companies in various industries or trades including but not limited to those specialising in coding network; robotic solutions; biotech in developing reagent and microbiology diagnotics device; AI fintech solution; medical equipments; AI solution for medical care & wellness; blockchain solution for logistics industry; road safety and telemetry technology; etc.
