The Spirit of Hong Kong Awards (SoHK) is an annual campaign co-organised by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Sino Group to celebrate the achievements of truly remarkable people who might otherwise be off the radar. We champion the selfless contributions of real people in our Hong Kong home. These people make us proud to call ourselves Hongkongers.
Since 2013, the Awards has recognised more than 200 unsung heroes and told their stories
The nominees are not celebrities, but ordinary people from all walks of life. They may be good Samaritans or caregivers. They may be everyday hardworking individuals that make a big difference to support the greater community with their dedication and efforts. They may be survivors against the odds.
The one thing they have in common is that they inspire others with their actions, and embody the true spirit of Hong Kong.

Step 1
Nomination (July – August 2023)

Shortlist & Interview (August – September 2023)
The Selection Committee will shortlist 18 finalists.
Finalists will be interviewed by SCMP and their stories will be published in SCMP and uploaded to our Awards website.

Step 3
Public Voting & Judging (October 2023)
The panel of judges will review finalists’ nominations and stories in accordance with a set scoring system.
Readers can vote for their favourite finalist for the ‘Lion Rock People’s Choice Award’ on our Awards website.

Step 4
Result Announcement (December 2023)
6 winners will be selected by the panel of judges.
The finalist with the highest number of votes will get the ‘Lion Rock People’s Choice Award’.
Results will be announced at the Awards ceremony in December 2023. Winners will be notified individually. The list of winners will be posted on our Awards website.
