Group Photo – Younger Professionals Exhibition & Competition (Award Ceremony)(Source: Main Organizer) The Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition 2026 (YPEC 2026), organized by The IET Hong Kong Younger Members Section (YMS), was successfully held on 19 July 2026 at Yatsumoto International Academic Park (YIA), The Chinese University of Hong Kong. ⋅ YPEC is an annual engineering project exhibition and presentation competition that provides a valuable platform for younger engineers and students to showcase their innovative ideas, exchange insights with peers and professionals, and gain exposure to the academic and engineering communities. This year’s event brought together 82 teams, over 300 participants, and 32 judges across various competition sections, reflecting the strong enthusiasm of young talents in advancing engineering innovation. Under the theme”Empact”, YPEC 2026 encouraged participants to explore how innovative engineering solutions can address real-world needs and create positive impact. Through project presentations, exhibitions, professional adjudication and networking opportunities, the event fostered knowledge transfer among industry, academia, tertiary students and secondary school students, further strengthening the pipeline for future innovation talent development. The talent development programme aims to nurture local youth by providing hands-on training and mentorship in microbiome research and life sciences. It is dedicated to inspiring a new generation of leaders who will shape the future of industry, academia, and research (產學研) in Hong Kong. In the one-week program, a series of workshops and practical activities were designed to provide an in-depth understanding of issues such as mental health, community participation, and special learning needs (SEN) to a group of young talents. CUHK InnoPort hosted the Summer Institute 2026 entrepreneurship event, named “Startup Detective x Human Library Workshop”, in collaboration with the Office of Academic Links (OAL) on 17 July 2026, welcoming local and international high school students to an interactive afternoon designed to spark curiosity about entrepreneurship, innovation, and future studies at CUHK.  The workshop showcased knowledge transfer in action by bringing CUHK founders and high school students together to exchange practical know-how and real-world perspectives on innovation and entrepreneurship. Students took part in a lively detective game, rotating through four mystery startup stations where they discussed clues, asked questions, and worked together to uncover the stories behind each venture.  In the founder sharing session, four entrepreneurs shared their startup journeys, including Mr. Aaron Yang, Founder & CEO of Palsara Limited; Ms. Claudia Chan, Founder and CEO of CancerCompanion; Ms. Wanki Yeung, Founder of Soul Island; and Mr. Vincent Wong, Director of Doko Tech. They shared the motivations behind their ideas, the challenges they faced, and the real stories that shaped their entrepreneurial paths.  The workshop continued with a sharing session and an award presentation, where students reflected on their entrepreneurial takeaways. It concluded with a memorable introduction to the startup ecosystem and a clearer glimpse into knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship at the university level. The inaugural Asian edition of the Middle East’s flagship technology exhibition brought together global innovators, investors and industry leaders to foster cross-border collaboration and acceleration innovation between Asia and the Gulf Region. ⋅ Under the CUHK Pavilion, six innovation teams presented their cutting-edge technologies to an international audience of investors, industry leaders and policymakers. Spanning key strategic areas – Biotechnology, New Energy, Construction Technology (ConTech) and Smart Cities – the teams demonstrated CUHK’s robust research capabilities and strong translational impact across diverse sectors. Their participation underscores CUHK’s commitment to advancing knowledge transfer and fostering global partnerships, particularly with emerging markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC region). LEAP East 2026 brough together over 25,000 participants, 340 speakers and 450 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, providing an influential platform for cross-border investment, business matching and technology exchange. The CUHK pavilion attracted considerable interest from Middle East investors and corporate representatives seeking innovative solutions aligned with regional priorities in sustainability, and advanced technologies. In addition to the exhibition showcase, CUHK teams achieved notable recognition in the event’s flagship Rocket Fuel Competition. Two CUHK start-ups were shortlisted as semi-finalists, reflecting the University’s growing strength in entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of research outcomes. This achievement highlights the quality and market readiness of CUHK innovations on an international stage. Introduction The Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One-plus (RAISe+) Scheme aims to help the prospective research teams with good potential to transform, realise and commercialise the research and development (R&D) outcomes and become successful start‑ups within around five years. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will serve as the applicant, while the research team is responsible for carrying out the project. Details Funding support: $10 million to $100 million on matching basis for each successful project application. Project period: Up to 60 months or 36 months if only join second stage. Two stages: Teams may join both the first and second stage, or only the second stage, depending on maturity of transformation of the R&D outcomes.
