The programme successfully completed its core overseas leg at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 5 August to 12 August 2026. This year, 20 nominated teams from 12 local universities advanced to an intensive entrepreneurship boot camp hosted by LSE. The immersive training program focused on pioneering technology domains, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Data Science. Led by top-tier scholars and global industry experts, the cohorts participated in advanced masterclasses covering tech risk management, MVP development, and the European VC fundraising landscape. Beyond the workshops, the 20 teams expanded their global horizons through ecosystem visits to prominent UK innovation hubs, including Plexal and Somerset House Studio – Makerversity. These site visits allowed CUPPers to interface directly with cutting-edge international tech ventures and experience London’s dynamic entrepreneurial spirit firsthand. We were honoured to have two CUHK startup teams, Teachn.io and Her Guard AI join the Boot Camp this year. Participants are now set to compete for 10 seed funding awards of HK$100,000 each from the CCMF to materialize their projects. (Photo: KTO) The BOC Life 11th Golden Age Expo and Summit (GAES) was successfully held from 30 July to 1 August 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Themed “Golden Age+ Connect．Collaborate．Co-innovate”, GAES2026 served as a co-create platform for golden agers and all sectors. Featuring over 200 booths showcasing the latest smart ageing technologies, innovative products, cutting-edge technologies, and transformative services from around the world. This year’s event has attracted more than 55,000 visitors, including policymakers, corporates, NGOs, and the general public. The event also brings together influential thinkers and leaders from business, government, academia, social organisations, and the digital industry to share innovative ideas and experiences on ageing-related issues. This aims to tackle challenges such as population ageing and workforce shortages, lead Hong Kong’s transformation into Asia’s Smart Ageing City, and unlock limitless business opportunities. This year’s event brought together 82 teams, over 300 participants, and 32 judges across various competition sections, reflecting the strong enthusiasm of young talents in advancing engineering innovation. Under the theme”Empact”, YPEC 2026 encouraged participants to explore how innovative engineering solutions can address real-world needs and create positive impact. Through project presentations, exhibitions, professional adjudication and networking opportunities, the event fostered knowledge transfer among industry, academia, tertiary students and secondary school students, further strengthening the pipeline for future innovation talent development.
