Mr. Cheetah Chak, tutor from SouLight Spiritual Education Centre highly recommends Freedom from the Known

Cheetah Chak writes:

J. Krishnamurti is one of the most renowned spiritual teachers of the 20th century. He recognized that humans live in a world full of internal and external conflicts, enduring much suffering. Yet, the root of suffering lies within humanity itself. Humans create a prison of consciousness, trapping the psyche inside, which gives rise to various negative emotions and destructive actions, leading to conflicts in relationships and society. Throughout his life, J. Krishnamurti dedicated himself to awakening human consciousness, guiding individuals to break free from the self-created prison of pain, and rediscover the essence and true nature of their own spirituality, enabling them to live with freedom, peace, and an appreciation of the beauty of life.

Life’s Suffering Arises From Inner Attachments

Why do people experience pain? Because of attachments in the mind. What are attachments? They are fixed perceptions of oneself. Often, people define themselves based on past experiences, including sensory sensations, perspectives on different things, and preconceived ideas. All of these past experiences belong to the realm of the “known.” Being attached to a self defined by the “know”” often leads to disharmony with the present situation, giving rise to suffering and conflict.

The book Freedom from the Known explores the liberation of oneself from the confines of old self-perceptions, allowing for the exploration of a new and vibrant self.

By Awakening and Unraveling the Attachments, One Can Behold Their True Essence

The book delves into many common issues that cause human suffering, such as “love,” “relationships,” “desire,” “self-image,” “loneliness,” “meaning of life,” and more. J. Krishnamurti guides readers through an understanding of the workings of the mind, how we unconsciously allow tendency to dictate our reactions, how we absorb societal constraints in our interactions with others and ourselves, and how we cling to old experiences, leading to a repetitive and conflicted existence, perpetuating negative emotions and conflicts.

To release the knots in the mind and free the spirit, self-awareness is required. J. Krishnamurti often reminds readers that while reading his words, they must face their inner truth. Recognizing the conflicts within oneself is the first step towards spiritual freedom. Awareness of every constraint and shackle placed upon oneself is the means to break free from them until we are no longer controlled and confined by the “known.” The spirit will then feel light, liberated, blessed, and radiate inner radiance.
