Event Highlight | MBα @ InnoPort Master Class #2 “How to make yourself famous? Leveraging publicity to grow your startup and business” (30 May 2025)

On 30 May 2025, CUHK InnoPort’s second master class of the Marketing and Branding Academy (MBα) titled “How to Make Yourself Famous? Leveraging Publicity to Grow Your Startup and Business” was successfully held at UGA, InnoPort. Attendees from different backgrounds, including students, staff and alumni, gathered to enhance their grasp of publicity and personal branding. They enjoyed a coffee chat atmosphere, complete with special coffee drinks to set a relaxed vibe.

The session was kicked off by Mr. Basil Cheung, Founder and Brand Consultant at Elio Brand Consultancy, as well as Lecturer at the School of Journalism and Communication at CUHK, with a thought-provoking introduction to various publicity strategies, emphasizing the relevance of Andy Warhol’s “15 Minutes of Fame” Theory. Basil also shared insightful case studies that highlighted successful branding journeys, inspiring attendees to think creatively about their own ventures.

We were also thrilled to invite a Hong Kong-based female photographer, Ms. Deon Wong, to share her experiences in starting her photography business. Deon discussed how to create a photography portfolio that enhances publicity and attracts potential clients. Her journey served as a motivating example for attendees looking to carve their own paths in creative industries. Interactive discussions and a fireside chat allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where entrepreneurial ideas flourished.

As InnoPort continues to support entrepreneurship and innovation, we look forward to empowering our community with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the ever-changing marketing landscape. Stay tuned for our upcoming master classes!
