Event Highlight | ORKTS Innovation & Entrepreneurship Support Fair 2025 (07-09 Apr 2025)

The ORKTS Innovation & Entrepreneurship Support Fair 2025 was successfully held at CUHK Bookstore at Yasumoto International Academic Park.

During the three days events, we provided various information regarding the ORKTS and Partners’ funding opportunities, entrepreneurship competitions and education programs in the information booth. The “Happy Lunch Hour” talk was successfully held to foster generational exchange among CUHK students, professors, alumni, and the participants actively engaged in Q&A sessions. 

We are grateful for the insightful contributions from our esteemed speakers and the engaging participation of our attendees.

#Day1
Topic: How Food Technology Leads the Way to Sustainable Entrepreneurship

This engaging discussion shed light on the opportunities and challenges in leveraging technology to revolutionize the food industry for a sustainable future. Mr. Edmund Chan, Founder of Meat The Next, highlighted MEAT THE NEXT’s groundbreaking innovations in plant-based food solutions, showcasing their commitment to sustainability and creativity. Meanwhile, Ms. Jojo Kwok and Mr. Matt Chak,Co-founders of Body Nova and 1st Runner-ups of Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) 2024-25, took us on an inspiring journey through Body Nova’s entrepreneurial path in the health food sector, reflecting on their impactful experiences in the HKSEC competition. Dr. Victor Lau, Head of Venture Acceleration Team(ORKTS), shared invaluable perspectives on emerging trends and resources that are shaping the future of entrepreneurship.

#Day 2
Topic: “Blue” Blueprint: Innovation and Practice in the Blue Economy
The discussion explored how we can harness ocean resources to fuel economic growth while preserving sustainable marine ecosystems. Dr. Apple Chui, from the School of Life Sciences and founder of Coral Academy, shared her inspiring work in coral conservation and experience in finding funding. Prof. Ho Kin Chung, founder of the Polar Research Institute of Hong Kong, sheded light on microalgae entrepreneurship and opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. Ms. Tina Vu, Education Representative of the Ichthyological Society of Hong Kong, Vice President of The Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science & Technology, introduced cutting-edge technologies driving innovation in the blue economy. Mr. Raymond Chu, Associate Director (University Collaborations) of Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, outlined funding opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures.

#Day3
Topic: Blending Artistry with Business: The Limitless Potential of Music Culture and the Rise of Musicpreneurs 

The Talk highlighted the challenges musicians face, the importance of multiple income streams and networking, and the opportunities for musicpreneurs through cross-disciplinary collaboration, showcasing the limitless potential of music culture. Prof. Melody Yiu and Dr. Sze Wai Veera Fung from the CUHK School of Architecture shared their unique perspectives on the research application on the community and creative stage design process. Mr. Stanley Yeung and Mr. Jayson Chan, participants in the GroundMusic project, shared their inspiring music creation experiences. Ms. Irene Au, CEO of KALOS, highlighted the diverse applications and development value of music in society and the opportunity for musicpreneurs.
