On 25 Jul, 2025, PI Centre hosted Startup 101: Driving Social Impact and Sustainable Growth, featuring Ms. Lillian Li, Executive Director of SIPHK. CUHK students and entrepreneurs engaged in vibrant discussions on social-purpose startups.

Lillian shared strategies for addressing societal challenges, emphasizing health (SDG 3), inequality (SDG 10), and climate action (SDG 13). Drawing from SIPHK’s model since 2014, she highlighted pro-bono support from firms like Bain and BCG, and private equity methods to empower Social Purpose Organizations (SPOs). Examples included MilMill’s recycling initiatives and Contened Living’s community welfare projects.

For sustainable growth, Lillian discussed balancing impact and profit through revenue diversification, operational scaling, and impact assessment. She showcased SIPHK’s Recycle Fund and peer-learning opportunities for SPOs transitioning from grants to market funding.
