Event Highlight | Startup 101: Key Corporate Structures and Legal Insights

On 30 May, 2025, CUHK PI Centre and CUHK Innovation Limited co-hosted an inspiring Startup 101 session featuring Mr. Dillan Sum, a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong. This event aimed to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and CUHK members with critical legal knowledge to navigate the complex landscape of startup development.

Mr. Sum delivered an insightful presentation, focusing on key legal considerations for startups. He emphasized the importance of selecting an appropriate corporate structure to ensure scalability and compliance, offering practical guidance on options such as limited companies and partnerships. He also addressed common legal challenges faced by startups, including major personnel or stakeholders and examples of legal documents and their respective risks and issues. His real-world examples and tailored advice resonated strongly with attendees, equipping them with tools to safeguard their ventures.
