Event Highlight | Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) Support on HATCH x MagIC Talent Development Programme 2025 (28 July and 7 August 2025)

On 28 July and 7 August 2025, two sessions of the HATCH x MagIC Talent Development Programme were held at Innoport, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The talent development programme aims to nurture local youth by providing hands-on training and mentorship in microbiome research and life sciences. It is dedicated to inspiring a new generation of leaders who will shape the future of industry, academia, and research (產學研) in Hong Kong.

To further enrich this learning experience, Dr. Gene MAN (Head of Knowledge Transfer Events Management, KTO) was invited by the D.H. Chen Foundation Hub of Advanced Technology for Child Health (HATCH) to deliver a thematic talk on Knowledge Transfer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and an introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) and Patents. The thematic talk enhanced the students’ understanding of knowledge transfer by exploring its relevance in fostering collaboration between academia and industry. It highlighted its significance within the academic context and outlined the knowledge transfer mission at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Various mechanisms and strategies employed to facilitate effective knowledge transfer at the university were discussed. Additionally, Dr. Gene MAN introduced the concepts of IP and Patents, highlighting their importance in fostering innovation and protecting research outcomes. Attendees gained insights into patents and the critical role they play in commercializing research outcomes.
