On August 9, 2024, our office hosted the event “Unlocking HK$100 Million Potential: The Power of Research-Academia-Industry Collaboration” as part of the CUEA Happy Hour Entrepreneurial Talk Series 2024. The event was a full house, reflecting the immense interest and enthusiasm of our staff, students and community partners.

Mr. Nicholas Chan, BBS, NG, JP, an experienced lawyer with a computer science background, captivated the audience with his insights on research-academia-industry collaborations. He pointed out the remarkable opportunities these collaborations offer and emphasized the unique synergy that can be achieved by combining Hong Kong’s vibrant talent and creativity with China’s advanced productivity and space. Mr. Chan also introduced the “Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One-plus Scheme (RAISe+)” to the participants, highlighting the promising and encouraging news that the awarded team from CUHK for RAISe+ received the most awards among all institutions.

The Q&A sessions were particularly lively, with passionate discussions on hot industry topics such as ESG, AI, the digital economy, healthcare, and carbon credits. Participants eagerly engaged with Mr. Chan, exploring the vast opportunities available to entrepreneurs. The overwhelming response and enthusiasm from the attendees underscored the event’s success and the high regard in which Mr. Chan is held.
